How To Buy

Buying a new hat from me is achieved in just five easy steps:

  1. Please browse through the Hats Galleries on this website to see the wide range of options I can make for you.  Also look at some of the Happy Customers wearing them on their special days!
  2. Book your appointment with me in my Winchester studio by telephoning 07968 337446.
  3. Please bring along your dress and shoes to our meeting to decide the colour were going for.
  4. Have fun trying lots of my hats on!  I have many samples and we’ll go through them together to select the design that’s right for you.
  5. Your order will take about 6 - 10 weeks to make and I’ll call you when it’s ready to collect!
The Studio


Customers are invited to book a one-to-one consultation by dialing 07968 337446.  There is ample parking immediately outside my front door and my studio is located on the first floor of my home - however if stairs are difficult for you then we can make provision for you to be seen on the ground floor.  Then, by bringing along the dress and shoes to the appointment, we can go through the colours in the Shade Card and all the different millinery samples to find the perfect hat and colour that suits.  At this point, many customers take the opportunity of ordering matching accessories such as a clutch handbag, a silk stole, a corsage, shoe bows or a string of Freshwater Pearls highlighted with Swarovski crystals in the same colour, which can all help to really co-ordinate their look and make them feel Marvellous on their special day!

If you wish, often remnants of fabric from your dressmaker or alteration service can be included in the design to trim your hat and/or to cover a clutch handbag, which will effortlessly bring your outfit together.  Having said that, I also have a very wide variety of silks, organzas and velvet colour samples to select from in my studio, so that the flowers can be made with fabric that I supply in order to trim your new hat. 

If we feel between us that one of my stocked sinamay colours is not quite perfect with your outfit, then I can also offer to have elements of any hat I make for you dyed the exact colour of your dress by a professional dying company, as an additional service.

Orders normally take between six to ten weeks to complete, depending on the season and how busy I am.  This allows time for obtaining all the raw materials as well as allocating my time to make the pieces for you.  However, it’s always worth contacting me as sometimes I can offer an Express Service for a small additional fee, if your event is less than six weeks away.  In most cases I am able to help most of my customers right up until the last minute by providing at least something to wear on the day!  But as I always say, the longer you can give me the better it is for both of us, and I much prefer to know that your order is waiting for you to wear in your wardrobe - rather than rushing it at the last minute!

A deposit of 50% is taken to secure the order, with the balance due at the time the order is collected.  It is prefered that payments are made by online banking transfer, but I am also able to accept cheque or cash instead if you prefer.

Hat Box

All of our orders are supplied in a beautiful hatbox.  Most customers collect their new hats from my studio in person so that they can check the fit and be shown how to wear the piece on the day.  However, for an additional fee of £25 (p&p) the order can be sent by Royal Mail Parcelforce in an additional reinforced outer carton, to be signed for at either a home or work address.
