During the consultation, you also have fun playing with lots and lots and lots of hat samples! We’ll try you in different shapes, sizes, and styles in front of the mirror. This is always fun – you might discover that a style you never considered looks fantastic on you! As we do this, I’ll offer expert advice on what suits you best. Together, we’ll decide on your hat’s ideal shape, materials, and details, matching it to your outfit and personality. It’s a highly personalized experience; I often remind my clients that our time in the studio is all about you and who you want to be on the big day. This process ensures that you feel involved and valued, making the experience even more special and memorable.

 

After the consultation, I immediately start to work on making your hat. Over the next few weeks, I’ll create, shape, and sew using your chosen high-quality materials – perhaps you opted for a particular silk, a unique feather trim, or a spray of handmade flowers - perhaps even it was all three! I pay attention to every detail, ensuring the colour is spot-on and each adornment is placed just right.

 

Creating a bespoke hat is a meticulous process, so planning ahead is wise. I usually recommend allowing about 6-10 weeks from our initial consultation to your finished hat (depending on the season). That way, we can allow plenty of time for creativity, craftsmanship and ensuring your hat is perfect for you without any rush.
